Living in the moment

I have always been a planner by habit because I hate being unprepared. I mean I have a color-coded day planner with my whole day scheduled out, for crying out loud.

Someone recently told me that if I planned every little aspect of my future, I’d never have luck at relationships, love, or even happiness. And she was right.

So, I’ve started to live in the moment. Now, it’s not easy. As being a planner the past 21 years, it has taught me that shit doesn’t go as planned anyways. Which makes sense to take things day by day because if not, you’ll just be disappointed or do the disappointing. Which, living in the future, I did most of the disappointing.

So here’s my advice: if you’re currently living in the future, take a break and enjoy the present.

Xoxo, Jessica ❤️

  1. Good point. I’m a planner too, and I’ve found that for me it works best when I focus on planning the more mundane stuff so I can get it done efficiently and then have more time free to focus on living in the moment.
